Quick Start

This page walks through the shortest reliable path to a first successful sync from Revit to Blender. It is meant to get you working quickly. The later pages explain each part in more detail.

Before you begin

Make sure Blender is already running before you try to sync from Revit. BlenderSync for Blender must also be installed and enabled in Blender, and the BlenderSync server must be running. In a normal setup, the server starts automatically when Blender starts.

BlenderSync for Revit must already be installed in Revit.

Open BlenderSync in Revit

Open your Revit project and go to the BlenderSync tab in the ribbon.

If this is your first time using the add-in on the current machine, open License first. Activate your license, or start a free trial if available. Until the machine has an active license or trial, the rest of the BlenderSync commands remain unavailable.

Set up the project

Open Setup in the Settings panel and choose the 3D view you want BlenderSync to use as the source.

Check the other settings before continuing. In most cases, the default values are already correct:

  • Display Name uses the Revit file name
  • Server is 127.0.0.1
  • Port is 3000

Save the setup. These settings are stored with the Revit document.

Run the first sync

Click Changes.

BlenderSync will query the server, find the missing or out-of-date content for the configured 3D view, and synchronize those changes to Blender. Once the sync is complete, check Blender and confirm that the document appears there as expected.

Continue from here

If you want Blender to keep updating as the Revit project changes, click Start in LiveSync.

If you want to understand the settings in more detail, go to Project Setup.

If you want to understand the commands and when to use them, go to Commands.

If nothing appears to happen, go to Troubleshooting first.
